Margaret Maude Farness | January 26, 1912 - July 26, 2009

Our mother Margaret Farness passed away peacefully in her sleep July 26, 2009 at Mount Cartier Court extended care. Born in Tynemouth, England on January 26, 1912, Margaret was a very dynamic woman who loved life and lived each day to its limit.Coming to Canada in 1945 as a young war bride with her small daughter Gloria, she and husband William settled in the Sidmouth area, south of Revelstoke. Many happy years were spent here by William and Margaret with their growing family. Beautiful flower and vegetable gardens were admired by many.Upon the sale of their farm in 1964 to B.C. Hydro, a house was purchased in Revelstoke where they remained until William's passing in 1985.Margaret was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Beatrice, twin brother Fred, brothers Ron and George, sister May, an infant sister Minnie, her beloved husband William and her infant son Derek in 1953. She is survived by daughters Gloria (Roy) Abbott, Christine (Jim) Fedyniak, twins Valerie Farness and Robert Farness and son David Farness; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.Margaret's last years were spent in Mount Cartier Court and the family would like to thank the staff for the excellent care she received there.A Memorial Service was held from the Chapel of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke on Friday, July 31st with Pastor Joel Olson officiating. Cremation with interment of the cremated remains in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. Howard McKay | August 04, 1942 - July 10, 2009

Mr. Howard McKay died suddenly at his residence in Revelstoke on Friday, July 10th, 2009 at the age of 66 years. A Funeral Service will be held at the Revelstoke United Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 1st, 2009. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Humane Society, Box 340, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Howie.Howie was born in Salmon Arm, B.C. on August 4, 1942 and had been a resident of Revelstoke for the past 63 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and restoring old cars. Howie was an avid fisherman and naturalist. He had a great love and compassion for all animals. He was a jack of all trades and a great storyteller. Howie was hard working, a good provider and very generous and always assisting others. He enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humour.Howie was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 2007. He is survived by two children: Vicky McKay (Barry Kroeker) of Kelowna and Brad (Jenni) McKay of Revelstoke; four grandchildren: Emily, Branden, Grayson and Mackenzie; three brothers: Ron (Diane) McKay of Revelstoke, Alfie McKay of Kamloops and Garry (Janet) McKay of Golden; numerous nieces and nephews; his dog Shadow and his cat Babe and his grand animals Riley, Mojo and Abby.Arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.

Mrs. Jean Davis passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Monday, July 6th, 2009 at the age of 76 years. There will be no formal funeral service by Jean's own request. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Hospice Society, Box 3133, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Jean.Jean was born in Arrowhead, B.C. on September 21, 1932 and had been lifelong resident of the Arrowhead, Beaton, Trout Lake and Revelstoke area. She loved fishing and travelling. Jean was an amazing cook and a great baker. She was very organized and had a positive spirit. Throughout her illness she remained positive and strong. She had many friends across the USA and they all visited her prior to her death.Jean was predeceased by her parents and one brother Bob Vigue. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur of Revelstoke; four children: Louis (Pam) of Revelstoke, Sheryl (John) Hermansen of Revelstoke, Lorel Davis of Revelstoke and Darrell (Jennifer) Davis of Salmon Arm; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother Ed (Barb) Vigue of Revelstoke; sisters-in-law Karen Vigue and Judy Vigue, both of Revelstoke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Cremation arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.

Mrs. Marie Howe passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 at the age of 60 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Revelstoke United Church on Thursday afternoon, July 2nd, at 2 p.m. with Mr. Gary Sulz officiating. Cremation. V1Y 1P6, in memory of Marie.Marie was born in Kelowna, B.C. on August 4, 1948 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1971. She enjoyed yard-saleing and playing Bingo. Marie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.Marie was predeceased by her parents and her son-in-law Norman Brettermayer. She is survived by her husband John of Revelstoke; two children: Sue (Corey) Bourke of Revelstoke, J.J. Vickie Konas | April 26, 1925 - June 22, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Vickie Konas, on June 22, 2009 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, surrounded by her children.Vickie was born in Paisley, Scotland, in 1925. During WW2 she worked in a munitions factory in London, England, then worked in New York City before visiting her sister Margaret in Revelstoke. Vickie met her future husband, Kaye Konas together they created a happy home with their four children. She resided in Revelstoke for 58 yrs, most recently at Monashee Court, where she valued her independence social life. Vickie had a gentle way of making everyone feel special, through her kindness, sensitivity incredible positive outlook on life. Mourning her passing are daughters Anne Marie Konas - Vancouver; Linda Dickson (Bob) - Revelstoke; Terry Deyl (Bob) - Calgary; son Ed Konas (Joanne) - Grande Cache; grandsons Riley Stuart Dickson; step-grandchildren William Gillian, Jamie David, cherished nephews, nieces friends in Canada, UK and Poland. A Funeral Mass was held on June 30, 2009, at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke, BC. with Father Ronnie Tagnines celebrant. Honorary pallbearers were: Biagio Palumbo, Cyril Keates, Joe Woodcock, Tony Woodcock, Bill McCahon and Dennis Gawiuk. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Heart Stroke Foundation, Box 2088, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0 in Vickie’s name.

Steven Charles (Steve) Schurdevin | April 15, 1950 - June 19, 2009

Mr. Steven Charles (Steve) Schurdevin passed away at his residence in Revelstoke on Friday, June 19th, 2009 at the age of 59 years. Steve was born in Fargo, North Dakota on April 15, 1950 and had been a resident of Revelstoke for the past 20 years. He was a well-known faller in the heli-logging industry. Steve was instrumental in helping to start the Revelstoke Grizzlies hockey team. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Steve especially enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren always made him smile.Steve was predeceased by his father Dwaine Schurdevin. He is survived by his mother Sadie Schurdevin of Thorne Bay, Alaska; three children: Adrienne Schurdevin (Lance Beattie) of Revelstoke, Travis Schurdevin of Revelstoke and Derek (Billy) Schurdevin of Comox; five grandchildren: Kirsten, Stevie, Karlie and twins Chase and Charli; one sister Debbie (Tracy) Vaughn of Thorne Bay, Alaska; one brother Mark (Kathy) Schurdevin of North Carolina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service held at a future date. Mr. Robert Harold (Bob) Nucich died suddenly at his residence in Revelstoke, B.C. on Sunday, June 14th, 2009 at the age of 72 years. There will be no formal funeral service by Bob’s own request. Cremation.Bob was born in Trail, B.C. on April 8, 1937 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1965. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed being in his garden. In his younger years he enjoyed his artwork and writing. Bob was predeceased by his son Billy in 1989. He is survived by two sons: John (Heather) of Prince George and Joe of Kelowna; two grandsons: Daryon and Dylan; his son’s mother, Jan of Vernon; one brother Don (Pearl) Nucich of Chilliwack; cousin Marlene (John) Scarcelli of Revelstoke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Cremation arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.

Shawna Taranko | December 08, 1984 - February 02, 0000

Shawna Marie Taranko died suddenly on February 2, 2018 at the age of 33. A celebration of Shawna’s life will be held at some point in the future. Shawna was born in Revelstoke and spent some time living away but was drawn back to her hometown in recent years. She was happiest when surrounded by friends and family enjoying life together. Shawna is predeceased by her daughter Mya Marie Star Taranko in 2001. She is survived by her mother, Allana Weeks (Jeff Bentley), father, Bart (Marcella) Taranko, her sons: Owden Taranko-Goodrider, Hayden Bouvier and Tristen Taranko-Webb and her grandmother Stella Weeks; all of Revelstoke. As well as her half-sister, Jaimee Taranko of Mexico, her step-brother, Darcy Nowroski and step-sister, Chonetelle Nowroski; both of Edmonton, step-brother, Christian Bentley of Revelstoke, step-sister, Magan Keller of Golden and her niece, Shanna Rivet of Revelstoke. Shawna leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
