Angelina Tedesco was born on June 16, 1942, in Serra Pedace, Italy. She grew up in Italy with her family until the age of sixteen, when she moved to Revelstoke, British Columbia, in 1958. The family settled in a home on 4th Street, where they began their new life in Canada.
Angelina attended Revelstoke Secondary School and graduated in 1965. She enjoyed sewing and later completed a secretarial course. Over those early years, she worked at Robinson’s Store, the Five and Dime Store, and as a waitress at Manning’s and the Roma Restaurant.
In 1967, while visiting Italy, Angelina met Tony through her Aunt Angelina. Tony had seen a picture of her at her aunt’s house and asked about her. The two met soon after and were married on April 20, 1968, in Revelstoke, B.C.
Angelina was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to her family. She was proud of her children and worked hard to give them opportunities for a good education. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cross-stitching, and singing church songs. She was also a member of the Italian Canadian Club.
She loved supporting her husband in maintaining a wonderful vegetable garden and took great pride in preserving fruits and vegetables. She had a way of making us kids just take “just one more spoonful” at the table or chasing us kids around the yard with a banana in hand. She shared a fondness for The Young and the Restless, just like our Nanna, and had an incredible memory for birthdays, phone numbers, and the details of everyone’s lives. Her curiosity about the news and current events kept her sharp and engaged, and she delighted in her favourite foods — fresh bread, Italian meats, and cheese — which she enjoyed sharing with those she loved most.
She was also very grateful for the many special caregivers who supported her through her illness. A special thank you to Dr. Macleod who supported Lina throughout the years.
Angelina will be remembered for her love for her family. She took great pride in her children’s accomplishments and found true joy in seeing her grandchildren thrive. She will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her husband Tony of 58 years, her daughter Giovanna, daughter Rita (Jason and Gavin), son Salvatore (Gianna, Joshua and Sarah) brothers Tony, Frank, and Paul Pupo, multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lina’s memory to the Parkinson’s Canada Foundation and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
