Robert "Waylon" Pointer Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Waylon Pointer on March 31, 2024 in Salmon Arm, BC.  Waylon passed away at the age of 47 after a courageous battle with cancer over the past two years.

Waylon is survived by his parents Robert and Patricia Pointer, oldest sister Stephanie (Joe) Milic and their children Kirsten (Georg) and Thomas, and sister Marilee (Rob) Hart and their children Megan and Emory.  Waylon was born in Vernon October 3, 1976 and was raised in Lumby and graduated before moving to live in Calgary and Vancouver until his early 40s.  In 2018 he moved back to Lumby and then moved to Vernon in 2019.  He loved being back in the North Okanagan and spent much time at his parent’s house on Mable Lake where he enjoyed watching the wildlife and the peaceful lake scenery that he deeply missed during his years living in the larger urban cities.

His family is very appreciative of the time we were able to spend with him over the past 6 years whether it was visiting at the lake, playing card games, or watching hockey games. He was a lifelong Edmonton Oilers fan and loved watching his nephew’s hockey games in person when he could.  He was an artistic person who enjoyed painting and drawing, singing, and playing the guitar.

Waylon was a quiet, gentle soul with a great sense of humor who will be deeply missed.  A special thanks to Dr. Barss in Lumby for his care of Waylon over the past 6 years and the numerous medical staff that cared for him during his 2 year battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Lumby on April 14th at 1:00pm at the Lumby Curling Rink, 2230 Shields Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Waylon’s memory to the BC Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or charity of your choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
